Walking Barefoot In His Footsteps...

The pathway has always seemed clear, straight, narrow, and easy to follow.

HAWAII - Adam & Ammon Fly To Paradise

MARCH 4, 2015 - I just had the privilege of waking at 3:15 AM to drive Adam and his good friend Ammon to the Salt Lake Airport so that they could board United Airlines flight to Los Angeles, followed by a 6 hour flight to Hawaii. It was fun to drive along and hear the excitement in their voices as they talked about what it was going to be like.

Stay tuned!!!

Today i actually had a couple of rainbows. first, i was "allowed" to wake up at 7:15 and go to orem high and helping out Mrs. Pam's Drama 3 class. i am helping Sam and Mckenna with Act 3 Scene 1 from Measure for Measure (the scene where she tells him he will have to die because she wont sleep with angelo. its pretty intense) so that was good because it got me up early in the morning. oh yeah! thats another rainbow. i set 3 goals last night to achieve by next wednesday. 1) Wake up before 8 AM every day, regardless of when i go to bed. 2) Read The scriptures every morning when i wake up. (currently i am trying to finish the book of mormon in 2 months with jessica kirkby. that equates to about 9 pages a day.) 3) Exercise at least 30 min everyday. i think that if i can accomplish these 3 things than i will be ready to move out and get my butt in gear to go on a mission. i just got 3k back from my tax return so that takes care of most of the money that i need to go. now i just need to get it in gear and prepare myself. so i just kind of combined those 2 rainbows. so i guess those get to be a double rainbow. the next one is kind of dumb, but me and all of my nerd friends and coworkers are freaking out about this. Let me give you a little of a background. so Google Fiber is a new internet service that is being tested by google. they currently service only the kansas city area. this internet service is able to give people internet speeds of up to 1 GIGABIT PER SECOND!!!! that is huge. currently the average for a home is about 10 Mpbs. at my house we get about 2 Mbps. google is offering speeds of up to 1000 Mbps to people for around $70-90. this is incredible! most computers cant even handle anything over 100 Mbps. TL;DR (Too long; Didn't Read): Google fiber is the latest greatest thing in internet speeds by MILES. no one else even comes close. Now for the exciting part. IT IS COMING TO PROVO!!! Google fiber is currently only servicing Kansas CIty and that is it. 1000's of cities from all over the world have been campaigning for google fiber to come to their city. they have made youtube videos, run huge publicity campaigns, and one city even legally changed its name to google to try to get them to come. for their next 2 cities to recieve it they chose austin, tx and PROVO UT! the best part is that Provo didnt even campaign at all to have google come. GOOGLE CAME TO THEM. google is really excited to be building this in provo and approached provo instead of picking one of their other plentiful suiters from around the world. its pretty incredible. if you dont see this as a big deal and want to understand how AWESOME this is. talk to a nerd, and have them try to explain it. I will end this by officially stating: like many others, I AM MOVING TO PROVO BABY!!!

Rainbow #1: Elder Wawro

Today I said good-bye to one of my best friends in the world, Elder Christian Patrick Wawro. (He is the dorky guy in the picture) He is going to serve a mission for the next two years in the Denmark, Copenhagen Mission.

Well, I’ll start with a warning, I bawled like a baby when I went to say goodbye. I cried before I saw him, while I saw him, and after. In fact, I am still crying. OK, now to what actually happened. Well, I called him up, and his cousin answered the phone because he was not able due to him being already set apart as a missionary. I asked if I could come over and he said that would be great. On the way to the car I was talking to Hannah Herring and this is when the crying began. At this point it was only a couple of tears, no big deal. I mean that’s expected right? Well that changed when I showed up at his house. I went into his living room and saw him sitting there with all of his stuff in the process of being packed into his suit cases. Now here is where I lost it. He turned and looked at me and his eyes just shone with love and anticipation, and there it went. Any dignity I had before that moment was gone. Like, I mean I REEAAALLLLLYYYY lost it. We’re talking ugly cry, stuttered breaths, cant talk... the whole Shabang.  I shook his hand and was just amazed at how much his spirit shone. I will never forget how he looked right then, radiating with the love of Christ. I took a couple of seconds to try and  regain at least a little of my composure and dignity. I am proud to say I was able to whisper out that I loved him, and that he would be an incredible missionary. I had planned so many things to say to him when I got there, but that was all I could manage. The witty comments and embarrassing stories didn’t matter. He is a missionary now and I could see it.

Overall I think my time at his house amounted to a little under a minute. I wasn’t able to say anything and I felt bad that I was getting his carpet wet so I said my goodbye and got out. Did I mention I was bawling like a baby? I didn’t get to say what I wanted to, but I hope he knows how much I love him. He has been my best friend for the last 4 years and I don’t know what I would have done without him. I don’t know when my little Christian grew up, but he is a true man of God now, and I love him all the more for it. It has been about 45 minutes and I am still crying my eyes out (I’m pretty pathetic) but I’m going to be OK. I’m not even really that sad. It’s a feeling I don’t know how to explain, but I am just going to let the tears come. There isn’t much else I can do at this point.

The idea of these entries was to write down something good that happened (a rainbow) each day. This was definitely the highlight of my day. I couldn’t ask for anything more than to see my best friend go off to serve the Lord. I love you Christian. You mean a lot to me man.

Well that’s all I really have to write. Good night, I’m just going to blast some Andy Grammer and cry this out like a man.

P.S. Christian, I hate you for making me cry this much. Good luck my friend.
